Vegan Flatbread – Only 3 Basic Ingredients
I was introduced to this vegan flatbread on my volunteer adventure in Chiang Mai on a vegan permaculture meditation farm. Our resources were limited but that never showed on the table. Every meal was an absolute feast. One of my favourite discovery is this wonderful simple vegan flatbread that basically goes with everything and is done in no time with only the simplest ingredients.
To be precise, three basic ingredients. And I’m pretty certain you always find them in your kitchen. It is:
All you need to do is adding the three ingredients into a bowl and knead it to a soft smooth dough. Then split the dough into two similar sized parts and roll out on a smooth surface – best with some flour spread out to avoid sticking (see pictures below).
Though I’d like to pimp the flatbread with black and white sesame seeds it is optional. I’d recommend you though to add them as a constant asset in your kitchen. Personally, I can’t imagine my food without those little seeds anymore – not just for taste and health reasons but also as a feast for the eyes.
What to eat the vegan flatbread with
This vegan flatbread is as simple as it is versatile. It goes with everything, from savoury dips to curries and even dipping it into sweet dips and spreads will bring out the best in that bread.
Vegan Flatbread Recipe

Heat a pan over high heat
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and knead to a smooth dough
Now add the sesame seeds and give it another good knead
Divide the dough into two equally sized pieces

Your pan should be hot enough to bake one after another for about 30-60 seconds per side
